“TAKE AWAY FASHION” GEM – KNITTED GIRL COLLARS REVISITED E-mail

Not only I don’t miss a single one of “Take Away Fashion” events, but I also stay long enough to give a fair chance to every stand to impress me with something. OK, most frequently it is not worth the effort, but on those rare and joyful occasions there is something that simply has my name written, or in this case – knitted all over it! If you were growing up in the eighties, you were probably wearing knitted collars (usually made by grandmas) over your special occasion dresses too. Well, add a little silver chain to it and- voila!- a wonderful and delicate necklace with a good sense of humor. Yes, all really good ideas seem to be this simple!

When you think about it, these collars added almost a Victorian touch to dressing up of little girls in Ex- Yugoslavia. Twenty-something years later, the girls have grown up, the collars have turned into necklaces and they are now guaranteed to add a little drama twist to your everyday attires.

Unfortunately, this was just an exhibition piece, as the designer Branka Dancevska is yet looking for the team of somebody else’s grandmas to hand make the collars, this time in black silk thread. Can’t wait for the first series to be ready for sale- stay tuned to be informed about it!
